The Chiropractic Association of Ireland continues its annual promotion of World Spine Day campaign on October 16th.

What is World Spine Day?

“Every year on October 16th people from around the world join together to raise awareness on World Spine Day as part of the Bone and Joint Decade’s Action Week.”

The theme for Straighten Up Ireland 2016 is Straighten Up and Move

Straighten Up Ireland Three Minute Exercise Programme

As part of the week long Straighten Up Ireland campaign and in line with World Spine Day activities, the CAI is urging adults and children to commit to a three minute daily exercise programme, specifically designed to maintain a healthy spine, improve posture, stabilise core muscle groups and boost health. The exercises can be undertaken by people of all ages with a special program tailored for children. Detailed instruction leaflets can be downloaded at Straighten Up Ireland. (NB. These exercises are designed for healthy individuals. Please check with your chiropractor or health professional before continuing. They are not meant to replace thorough assessment and appropriate care for spinal conditions)

Dr. Verlaan-Ross continued: "The Straighten Up Ireland exercises are like brushing your teeth for spinal health. Maintaining a strong and flexible spine is important for spinal and brain health.  Doing the Straighten Up Ireland three minute set of simple exercises every day will help improve posture, stabilise core muscle groups, enhance health and prevent spinal disability."
